Does a town in the U.S. that is buried in snow and suffering a power outage deserve a tenth of the attention?

Getting 27 inches of snow is not one hundredth the impact as Katrina or the earthquake in Haiti. How many thousands died from that storm? I suggest you do a little research into the events and get some perspective.
