We've been dating exclusively for two months but I'm still not his girlfriend. What gives?

I have been dating this guy for two months. He took my virginity, and although we have come to terms that we are completely monogamous and kissing other people is cheating, we're still not boyfriend and girlfriend. I only slept with him the first time when I lost it and I told him I wanted to slow down. We see each other three to four times a week for at least five hours each time. Why hasn't he asked me to be his girlfriend? He's been with A LOT of girls and only had three girlfriends in his life (he's 22) but still. It's been a long time.
