What the hell is wrong with mother-in-laws? Why are they so demanding and demeaning?

It just seems that the mother of a daughter is not only less pushy and demanding and demeaning- but they also seem more supportive and helpful. Why is it that mothers of sons are so intrusive, rude, spiteful, and demanding?!
