Are Muslims allowed to go to physicians of the opposite ?

I am not sure what their laws say on this subject but I would imagine that there must be a huge shortage of muslim females in the medical profession because, in many muslim countries they are denied an education or it is a very limited one. In addition to that, many who do become doctors seem to prefer to work in any country but their own so I am guessing that the doctors will be almost 100% male in many Islamic countries.
